PRP for Hair Loss

Description

PRP for hair loss (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a non-surgical hair loss treatment that can help to awaken dormant hair follicles resulting in hair growth and increased thickness. PRP for hair loss is best for patients who have thinning or balding hair, or who want to help slow the prevention of future hair loss.

TREATMENT OPTIONS

  • Scalp

What It Treats

Hair loss, baldness, thinning of hair, slow progression of future hair loss

How It Works

PRP for hair loss treatments use the patient's own plasma which contains growth factors. PRP is injected into the scalp to provide nutrients for existing hair follicles and promote the growth of new follicles.

Pre Treatment

You must be well hydrated the day before and day of the procedure. It is not required but recommended to avoid the sun, alcohol, and ibuprofen the day before treatment.

Post Treatment

Some patients do experience discomfort in the immediate aftermath of the procedure, although most people do not report suffering any pain. It is possible that the procedure may cause some swelling and tenderness, but this should subside within one to three days. You may wear a loose hat to conceal any redness if desired.

FAQ

What is PRP for hair loss?

PRP for hair loss is a non-surgical treatment that helps to reduce thinning of hair, baldness, and can slow the progression of future hair loss.

How does PRP for hair loss work?

Platelet-rich plasma is injected into your scalp. Platelet-rich plasma is a natural substance found within your blood. Once drawn, the PRP is separated from red blood cells in a centrifuge (spinning machine). PRP contains growth factors that help to increase blood flow and nutrients to the treated area.

What is a PRP hair loss treatment like?

First our Skincare Technician will draw your blood. The blood is placed into a centrifuge to spin which separates the PRP (platelet-rich plasma). A numbing agent is placed on the scalp. The PRP is then injected into the scalp using a microneedling (SkinPen) to push the platelets into the skin.
